Do you need to apostille a driver’s license?
At Apostille, Inc., we take the guesswork out of obtaining an apostille on your driver’s license. We can apostille driver licenses issued from all 50 States and the District of Columbia (Washington DC).
The first step is to find a notary near you who will be able to assist you with the “copy certification” process. Copy certifying your driver’s license involves making a color copy of your license and having the notary notarize the copy with your signature. You can also write a statement on the copy as follows, “I certify that this copy is a copy of the original”. Please sign under your statement, print your name, and date the document. The notary will then include the notarial wording, signature, and notary seal/stamp.
Note: A driver’s license must be signed and notarized in the State of issue.
For example, A driver’s license issued from the State of California must also be notarized in California and receive the California State apostille. If your driver’s license was issued in Florida, you will need to have the color copy signed and notarized in Florida and also receive the Florida apostille. If you are outside of the USA, a family member or friend can help you who resides in the State your driver’s license was issued from.
Here are a few frequently asked questions…
Question: Can I mail you my original driver’s license?
Answer: Please do not mail in the original. Please mail in the notarized color copy with the order forms. You can find our order forms here: https://internationalapostille.com/order-forms/
Question: Why do I need to apostille my driver’s license?
Answer: If you plan to drive in another country (Example: South Korea), you can swap your US driver’s license for their driver’s license saving you time and money.
Question: What if I’m not in the USA?
Answer: You will need to find someone (family member or friend) to assist you in the State your driver’s license was issued from. You will need to mail in the original and have this person meet with a local notary to have the color copy signed and notarized.
Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the Apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!
