Do you need to apostille your Certificate of Citizenship?

Children who are born abroad to U.S. citizen parent(s) might be eligible to derive or acquire U.S. citizenship through their parents if the parent(s) and the child meet certain requirements.

The requirements for acquiring or deriving U.S. citizenship vary. Whether a person is a U.S. citizen at birth or becomes one after birth will depend on a number of factors.

If you were born outside of the United States and either one or both of your parents are or were U.S. citizens (by birth or naturalization), you may already be a U.S. citizen.

DS-4194 Office of Authentications

Do you need to apostille your documents through the US Department of State – Office of Authentications and need to complete form DS-4194?

DS-4194 is used by the U. S. Department of State for documents submitted by U.S. citizens and foreign nationals. The Authentications Office is responsible for signing and issuing certificates under the Seal of the U. S. Department of State for documents being submitted to foreign countries.

The US Department of State – Office of Authentications is responsible for signing and issuing certificates under the Seal of the U.S. Department of State (22 CFR, Part 131) providing authentication services to U.S. citizens and foreign nationals on documents that will be used overseas (Hague Apostille Member Countries).

This office receives a variety of documents from commercial organizations, private citizens, and officials of the Federal and State governments. Documents include but not limited to: FBI background checks, FDA documents, USDA documents, Social Security Income and Benefits Statement, IRS Form 6166, US Patent and Trademark (USPTO) documents, Certificate of Free Sale, State certified documents for non-Hague countries, and more!

If you are in a rush and would like to have your documents completed in four business days plus FedEx overnight return shipping, we recommend that you mail in your documents to our Washington, D.C. apostille office for processing. We will complete form DS-4194 and submit your documents on your behalf.

Documents received at our office by 2pm can be submitted the following business morning to the U.S. Department of State for processing. Degree Apostille

Do you need to apostille your Degree?

Have you graduated from a College and/or University in the US and want to further your education or work in a foreign country. Have you been told to apostille your degree?

The most common countries we certify and legalize degrees are for:

Step #1: The first step is to contact the School’s Registrar and inform the Registrar that you will need the original or a color copy of your diploma to be signed and notarized. The Registrar with either ask you to mail in the original or email a color copy. Some schools request that you purchase a new diploma. If the school does not have a notary on staff, a traveling notary can visit the school and meet with the Registrar. You can search online and arrange for a traveling notary service to visit the school when it’s convenient for the Registrar. Most notaries are unfamiliar with authenticating a diploma for another country so it’s best to leave the apostille process to us. The notary must follow the proper notarial laws of their State in order for the State office to authenticate the documents.

Step #2: Once you receive your notarized diploma, go ahead and verify that the diploma has been signed and notarized. Some schools will sign and notarize the back of the diploma while others have enough space to use the front. The original signature and the printed name of the Registrar must be on the documents including the notary’s name, signature, date of notarization, notarial wording, and stamp.

Permission to Travel Apostille

Do you need an apostille on a Permission to Travel Letter?

At International Apostille, we take the guesswork out of obtaining an apostille on a permission to travel letter (AKA: Travel Consent Letter). We can apostille consent letters notarized in all 50 States and the District of Columbia (Washington DC).

The purpose of signing a permission to travel letter is to allow your minor child to travel outside of the Country with another person (Example: Father, Mother, Grandparents, Aunt, Uncle, etc..). You can obtain a travel consent letter from the airline, travel agency, or you can find a sample online.

Basically, the letter will state that you are giving permission to one or more people to take your child outside of the country. The letter should include travel dates, your name, the name of the child, the person the child will travel with, the country the child will travel too, passport numbers, and the return date. You will want to put as much information as possible include airline information.

The permission to travel letter will need to be signed and notarized by the person(s) giving permission. If both parents or legal custodians are giving permission to a minor child to travel outside of the USA, then all signatures must be signed and notarized. Once the document has been notarized, it can then be mailed in to our office for processing. You will need to download our apostille order forms and mail in your original notarized document to our office for processing. We recommend that you find a notary who has at least five years of experience and one who will follow the notarial laws of their state. Improperly notarized travel consent letters will be rejected by the State causing delays and additional costs.
