Are you interested to know how to apostille a Driver’s License?
Are you planning to drive in a foreign country and need to swap out your US driver’s license for a foreign driver’s license?
A color copy of a driver’s license can only be notarized in the state of issue. For example, if your driver’s license is from California, the color copy of the license can only be signed and notarized in California and this document must receive a California apostille.
The most common countries we apostille a driver’s license is for South Korea and Chile.
The first step is to find a notary near you who will be able to assist you with the “copy certification” process. Copy certifying your driver’s license involves making a color copy of your license and having the notary notarize the copy with your signature. You can also write a statement on the copy as follows, “I certify that this true copy of my original driver’s license”. Please sign under your statement, print your name, and date the document. The notary will then include the state notarial wording, signature, and notary seal/stamp.
If your driver license originates from New York, Maryland or the District of Columbia, go ahead and mail in the original license and we can copy certify it for you. For all other states, you will need to find a notary to assist you in that State. If you are outside of the USA, a family member or friend can help you who resides in the State your driver’s license was issued from.
