Do you need to apostille your Green Card?

A Green Card is also referred to as the Permanent Resident card.

In order to obtain an apostille on your Green Card, you will need to make a color copy and meet with a local notary public. You will need to sign the document and also write a statement.

For example, you can write the following statement on the color copy, “I certify this is a true color copy of my green card.”  You can then sign below your statement and print your name.  The notary will then notarize your signature.  The notary public must sign, stamp, and add the proper notarial wording to the document.

Note: Any local notary public can help you.  Be sure to find one who has been in business for several years to avoid any errors or delays.  In some states, a notary can also certify the copy without you having to be there.
